SoundsLike: Port Hope is an initiative aimed at gathering a collection of stories, portraits, and collaborative performances from Port Hope’s older adults (aged 55+).
The project’s objective is to build social connections and to preserve and share stories that celebrate this community and build a sense of pride and identity.
Through interviews that explore the theme of place, and through social gatherings and theatre-based story-building workshops, in partnership with the Capitol Theatre, this project will culminate in a collective performance, a photography exhibition showcasing participant portraits, and a collection of stories to be enjoyed and shared now and in the future.
It is the aim that new friendships will be forged through this project, stories will be heard, shared and celebrated, and the group of participants will be given the opportunity after the project ends, to get together again as a group to also see a 2026 show as the Capitol Theatre celebrates a season with the theme “Where our Stories Begin”.
To participate, or for more information, please contact Lee at leehigginson@gmail.com
