Crochet beer cozies inspired by your favourite Hockey team colours, while discussing the cultural environment in sports.

PLUS, Crochet Beer Cozies would make a great gift!

We think a beer cozy, crocheted with love, would make a great gift for Dad — and Father’s Day is right around the corner! It would also make a great gift for a friend, or let’s face it, it would be pretty great to keep it for yourself too.

Your new beer cozy will perfectly pair with a local craft beer, which is why we partnered up with William Street Beer Co.!

Practice the basic stitches:

About Lucas Morneau

Lucas Morneau is an interdisciplinary artist from Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador. Morneau has exhibited artwork across Canada and the United Kingdom, including solo exhibitions in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador. In 2016, Morneau was the regional winner of the BMO First Art Award for Newfoundland and Labrador. In 2018, Morneau was the recipient of the Cox & Palmer Pivotal Point Grant.

Using photography, video, printmaking, sculpture, installation, and performance, Morneau’s work is autobiographical and based in social activism. Through his alter-ego The Queer Mummer, Morneau deconstructs gender norms and challenges homophobic and heterosexist attitudes still prevalent in Western society.

We look forward to welcoming Lucas to Port Hope next spring, to work on his residency project — Queer Newfoundland Hockey League (QNHL) — a series of crocheted and rug hooked hockey jerseys and goalie masks for 14 fictitious hockey teams that deconstruct toxic masculinity, homophobia, and machoism in sports culture, especially hockey.
