Artist Clelia Scala, will lead two all ages (drop-in) workshops, where everyone is invited to help make and decorate accessories for the Wizard of Oz themed Costume and Puppet Parade on October 20th.

Help us make a critical mass of… Poppies on sticks, Lollipop staffs, Glinda the Good Witch crowns & wands, Dorthy’s house lanterns, Ruby shoes on sticks, Tornados on sticks, and Glowing Emerald City hats!

Artist Bio:
Clelia Scala is Kingston-based visual artist whose work includes mask and puppet design, installations, collage, and illustration. As a puppet and mask designer and builder, she has worked with a variety of organizations and theatre companies, including Bad New Days, the Calliope Collective, Carousel Players, Guilty by Association, Lemon Bucket Orkestra, Odyssey Theatre, Queen’s University, Suitcase in Point, Yale University, and Zacadia Circus. Clelia’s visual art has shown in galleries in Canada and the United States and is in private collections across North America. Clelia is the recipient of the 2019 Established Artist Award for the City of St Catharines. She teaches design in the Dan School of Drama & Music at Queen’s University.

Reserve your spot at our Wizard of Oz Parade Accessories-Making Workshops led by Clelia Scala. September 23rd in Cobourg and October 7th in Port Hope! Workshops are free to attend, however donations to contribute to material expenses are greatly appreciated.

Workshops are suitable for all ages and and skill levels. You will be able to create your own accessories for the parade. At these workshops we plan to make a critical mass of… Poppies on sticks, Lollipop staffs, Glinda the Good Witch crowns & wands, Dorothy’s house lanterns, Ruby slippers on sticks, Tornados on sticks, and Glowing Emerald City hats! (Drop-in hours are between 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)

There is no cost to participate in the artist-led workshops. However, a nominal donation to help us cover the cost of materials would be appreciated. Suggested donation of $10 per person, $25 per family, or PWYC.
Do you already have TICKETS to see The Wizard of Oz on Friday, October 20th?
PLEASE NOTE: You do not need tickets to the film to participate in the Costume Parade or Workshops. Tickets to see Wizard of Oz are $12.50 each and must be purchased through the Capitol Theatre ticketing system. Great news for youth! Tickets are free for youth 25 and under! However, all tickets must still be reserved through the Capitol Theatre ticketing system (paid and complimentary tickets). There is a $2.50 Capitol Theatre improvement fee applied to each transaction. If you are purchasing or reserving multiple tickets for your group, it is best to do this all at once, so that you are only charged the $2.50 fee once.
